Agra is a beautiful picturesque
village built on a high ground. At the village' s entrance there is a
little pinewood but you will be stricken by the very old plane tree with
its suggestive bulk in the middle of the village's square.
The churches of St. Demetrios and Taxiarchis are
wonderful with their wood carved iconostases and old ecclesiastical books.
To a brief distance far from the village there is a place named 'Makara',
which, according to some myths, it was supposed to be the settlement of
the first king of Lesvos, Makara. In the region are kept ruins of pelagic
walls.
