Few kilometers out of Mytilini there is the region
around the Gulf of Gera, which gave birth to the poet Odysseas Elytis
prized with Nobel. Gera is the ensemble of four villages, Palaiokypos,
Papados, Mesagros, Skopelos.
The four picturesque villages, the boundless silver
olive groves and the blue of the sea compose the landscape. It is one of
the most beautiful Mediterranean Gulfs, abounding in fish, and mussels. A
walk in the Gulf of Gera, through little picturesque fishermen villages,
olive groves and golden beaches is a unique experience, which will rest
unforgettable.
