THE FOLK AND ART MUSEUM
This is housed in the lovely,
refurbished Old Harbour office on the waterfront. There are abundant
exam
ples of
which express the culture of the island including clay plates from
Agiassos with scenes from daily life, bowls. pitchers, wooden mortars,
cheese-melds, chests with highly artistic carvings, pistols, scimitars,
swords, muskets, lamps, earrings, fabulous hand-towels, local male and
female costumes, paintings by Theophilos and more.
Housed in the renovated building of the old port authority of Mytilene,
this museum houses various articles related to the history and culture of
Lesvos, such as everyday life objects, traditional costumes, clay vessels,
etc… as well as 5590 books and many manuscripts
